This review highlights the work of the Independent Expert Scientific Committee on Unconventional Gas Development and Large Coal Mining Development (IESC) in the 2024–2025 financial year.

Key elements of the IESC’s work in 2024 – 2025 included:

• providing 6 pieces of scientific advice
• undertaking a site visit to the Hazelwood Rehabilitation Project and the Yallourn Power Station
• publishing a short video demonstrating key aspects of groundwater sampling methods
• continuing to engage with a range of stakeholders to explain the IESC’s role.
